The Enchantment of Silk Sarees
The saree has quite
a history in India and is a source of inspiration in terms of its design. It is
a piece of 4-9 yards fabric and generally worn over a petticoat. The art of
draping a lengthy piece of cloth around the body in confusing pleats and folds
is quite a fascinating sight in itself. Silk is generally a protein fiber
generated by the silkworm. India is one of the unique countries which produce
different varieties of silk. Silk sarees are mainly originated in south India
and south Indian women are the pioneer in promoting these sarees. This sari is
very popular because of its variety of designs and colors and these saris have
been the part of women wear for a long time.
Silk sari is
available in a variety of different fabrics and styles. Silk saree, Banarasi
silk, Kanchipuram silk, Bhagalpuri silk are the various fabrics of silk sarees.

Kanchipuram Silk: A Kanchipuram or Kancheepuram sari or Kanjivaram sari is made by weavers from Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu) in India. To weave a Kanjivaram saree three shuttles are used. While the weaver works on the right side, his assistant works on his left. The color of the border and design of sari is generally quite different from the body. Firstly the hanging end has to be woven separately with different colorful shade then it is joined with the Sari. These saris have earned worldwide popularity for their elegant look and quality thread as well as weaving.
Paithani Saree: The name of paithani saree has emerged from
the town of Paithan in Aurangabad Maharashtra. These sarees are woven manually
and made of very fine silk. Tapestry Technique is used for weaving Paithani sarees. These are considered as one of the best saris in Maharashtra
(India).
Chanderi Sari: The Chanderi saree is also famous for its
elegant transparency and shearing texture of the fabric. The transparency in
the fabric is a unique feature, which is not probably found in any of the
textile products available all over the country. The transparent thread is
cotton and as well as silk too.
